First of all, thanks, it was very informative. I have a question. I prepare 20ug/ul solution of a pure compound by adding 50ul of ethanol/mg of the compound. which means, If I take 2 mg of the compound, I will multiply it by 50 =100ul of absolute ethanol. It will give me stock of 20ug/ul concentration. Now, do I need to consider the density too for converting the value (ug/ul) to ppm. 2nd, what is the ppm value of this solution (20ug/ul), to me it is 20,000ppm=2%. Am I right? I will highly appreciate your response in this regard..

Sir,  Thanks a lot for your explanation, however I have some observations:br />As I knew before ppm can only be used for the extremely diluted solution where we can consider that the density of solution is almost 1g/mL (water density)br />1 ppm means (there is 1 gramme of solute in 1 gramme of solution and not solvent which is water), so if we have a solution of 250 ppm this means: (250 gramme of solute/1000000 gramme of solution) br />If the density of this solution is almost 1 g/L in this case we have 250g/1000000g (solution)= 250g/ 1000000 mL= 250g/1000L=250mg/L;br />If the density is different than 1g/mL we cannot say 1ppm= 1mg/L;br />Please help me sir because I’m lost.
